What is the mission of MyGreenFunds?

The mission of MyGreenFunds is to support non-profit organizations through the sale of best-in-class, eco-friendly products. Through our promotion of earth friendly products, our on-line shopping experience, and our principally paperless operations, our goal is to conduct environmentally responsible fundraising.

How can a non-profit organization be added to the MyGreenFunds' Beneficiary list?

You may add a non-profit organization to the MyGreenFunds' Beneficiary list by going to the MyGreenFunds home page at www.mygreenfunds.com, clicking on "Register a Beneficiary", and filling in the required Beneficiary registration information.

Is there a cost to registering a non-profit as a MyGreenFunds' Beneficiary?

No. There is no cost to registering a non-profit to the list of MyGreenFunds' Beneficiaries.

Are there any fees associated with raising funds via the MyGreenFunds web site?

No. There are no fees associated with raising funds via the MyGreenFunds web site. Each Beneficiary receives 100% of the allotted donations made by their supporting shoppers.

Of course, if a Beneficiary runs a campaign involving printing promotional flyers or distributing product catalogs, etc, there are materials and administrative costs associated with these activities. But these costs are outside of the MyGreenFunds on-line service.

What type of non-profit organizations can register with MyGreenFunds?

In the US, any non-profit that has been classified by the US IRS as a 501(C)(3) or 501(C)(4) is eligible to register and benefit from MyGreenFunds fundraising.

In Canada, any non-profit that qualifies as a "Non-Profit Organization" (NPO) or "Registered Charity" according to the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency is eligible to register and benefit from MyGreenFunds fundraising.

What percentage of the dollar sum of a shopper's purchase will actually reach his/her selected Beneficiary?

20% of the purchase total (not including sales tax and shipping charges) will go to the selected Beneficiary. This is equivalent to about 80% of profit.

Once a non-profit is listed as a MyGreenFunds Beneficiary, how can it let people know about MyGreenFunds?

There are many ways a non-profit can promote the MyGreenFunds fundraising opportunity to its community of supporters:

  • Include a link to www.mygreenfunds.com on the non-profit's home web site,
  • describe and promote the benefits of MyGreenFunds in regular communication venues (emails, bulletins, magazines, letters, post cards, etc),
  • sell a subset of MyGreenFunds products (that are relevant to the non-profit supporter community) on site at the organization's location(s),
  • run a campaign tailored to a season or theme promoting MyGreenFunds eco-friendly products, and so on.

Is there anyone at MyGreenFunds to contact to discuss campaign ideas?

Yes. If you need ideas for how to create and run a MyGreenFunds fundraising campaign that will be successful in your target community, you may email info@mygreenfunds.com with your request. Please include a telephone number and a good time to reach you in your email. Campaign advice is normally free-of-charge.

How can a non-profit organization be added to the MyGreenFunds' Beneficiary list?

You may add a non-profit Beneficiary organization to the MyGreenFunds' Beneficiary list by going to the MyGreenFunds home page at www.mygreenfunds.com, clicking on "Register a Beneficiary", and filling in the required Beneficiary registration information.

When do selected Beneficiaries receive the donations from shopper purchases?

Beneficiaries are paid by MyGreenFunds on a quarterly basis as follows: March 15, June 15, September 15, and December 15 (or the closest business day preceding these dates).

What types of products does MyGreenFunds sell?

MyGreenFunds sells a wide variety of eco-friendly products covering many categories: beauty, body and health care, baby care, pet care, clothing, shoes and accessories, beverages and snacks, office and school supplies, home cleaning supplies, paper and plastic alternatives, and food serving/storage supplies. Many of the products sold are things that people use every day.

MyGreenFunds sources the eco-friendly products it sells from OnlyGreen, a leading educator and supplier of eco-friendly products.

What is OnlyGreen?

OnlyGreen is the source of eco-friendly products sold by MyGreenFunds. OnlyGreen is a leading educator and supplier of eco-friendly products, based in Midland, Ontario, Canada. OnlyGreen was started in order to provide consumers with a credible source for purchasing products that are environmentally friendly, from the manufacturing process through to packaging, distribution, and disposal.

From where does OnlyGreen source its products?

OnlyGreen searches worldwide for the most eco-friendly and highest quality products available. Not surprisingly, a significant number of products are Canadian and US made. OnlyGreen also owns the VADA facial and body care line.

How does OnlyGreen ensure the products offered are truly eco-friendly?

After researching numerous products available on the market today, OnlyGreen discovered that a lot of products claim to be green but in fact are not. In order to sort through the amount of "greenwashing" and provide customers with only the best products, OnlyGreen created its Product Selection Criteria. When considering a product, OnlyGreen evaluates every aspect of the product's lifecycle, which OnlyGreen divides into six parts. The following is an overview of the criteria used to evaluate each product to ensure that it is as eco-friendly as possible.

  • Materials/Ingredients
    • Are they organic?
    • Are chemicals used?
    • Do they comply with health regulations?
    • How are they harvested?
    • Are they a renewable resource?
  • Manufacturing Methods
    • Are chemicals used during processing?
    • Does the manufacturer utilize fair trade practices?
    • Are the products tested on animals?
    • Is it made using renewable energy?
  • Packaging
    • What materials are used?
    • Is the packaging minimal or excessive?
    • Can it be reused, recycled, or composted?
  • Delivery/Location
    • From where do the materials originate?
    • Where is the product made?
    • Is the product or component parts assembled in one location or multiple locations?
  • Use of the Product
    • What makes the product eco-friendly?
    • Is it consumable, reusable, or disposable?
  • Disposal
    • Is it reusable, recyclable, biodegradable, or compostable?

In what currency are OnlyGreen products priced?

Until October 2009, OnlyGreen products were priced only in Canadian dollars; for US residents, this usually meant the actual price in US dollars was less than that stated in Canadian dollars. Beginning October 1, 2009, prices are both in Canadian and US dollar amounts; therefore both Canadian and US customers can see their exact expenditures in their native currency.

Will I be charged sales tax?

Yes. Sales tax is applied to each order in the amount relevant to the Province or State which you state as your shipping address.

What are the shipping rates

In order to keep the calculation of shipping charges as simple as possible, shipping costs are based on the total cost of the order (before taxes), as follows:

Note:

In cases where an order must be split due to back-ordered items, shipping is calculated on the full amount when the order is placed and any secondary shipments are free of charge.

How do I minimize shipping sosts?

In order to minimize shipping costs, plan ahead on what you will need over the next couple months and

  1. order $150.00 to $199.99 in goods; your shipping charge ($15) will range from 10% to 7.5% of your total purchase; or
  2. order $200 or more in goods; shipping will be a consistent 10% of your total purchase.

Via what carrier(s) are orders shipped?

OnlyGreen prducts have traditionally been shipped via the Canadian Postal system. For US residents, once the products exit US Customs, they have continued via the US Postal System.

In order to shorten delivery time, OnlyGreen is currently evaluating the UPS and Fedex services. At the time of writing this FAQ, an official delivery method has not been determined. OnlyGreen will select whichever delivery service provides the best service to its customers.

Once I place my order, how do I select a Beneficiary?

Once you complete your product order, in addition to receiving an email from OnlyGreen confirming your order, you will receive a second email from mgf@onlygreen.com which asks you to select your Beneficiary.

How much time do I have to select a Beneficiary once my order is placed?

You have 30 days, from the date of your product order, to select a Beneficiary.

What do I do if I do not receive an email asking me to select a MyGreenFunds' Beneficiary?

In the rare event that you do not receive a "Select Your MyGreenFunds' Beneficiary" email, chances are the email was misdirected to your SPAM folder. Because the general email "search" function does not usually cover the contents of the SPAM folder, you likely will have to look through SPAM manually. If you find the "Select Your MyGreenFunds Beneficiary" in your SPAM folder, then add the sender email address, mgf@onlygreen.com, to your on-line address book to avoid this inconvenience in the future.

If you do not find the "Select Your MyGreenFunds Beneficiary" your SPAM folder, then please forward your OnlyGreen order confirmation to webmaster@mygreenfunds.com and specify in your email the Beneficiary to which you would like the proceeds from your order to be donated.

What percentage of the dollar sum of my purchase will actually reach my selected Beneficiary?

At least 20% of your purchase total (not including sales tax and shipping charges) will go to your selected Beneficiary.

If I want to shop on MyGreenFunds but do not wish to donate funds to any organization, what do I do?

If you do not wish to specify a Beneficiary after a product purchase, you can ignore the email you receive from mgf@onlygreen.com asking you to select a Beneficiary. If you believe you will never wish to select a Beneficiary, then you can email webmaster@onlygreen.com and state "unsubscribe" in the subject line.
